Multimedia in Present Life

Question: At your present situation in life, how relevant is interactive multimedia? How can you make multimedia advantageous to you, whether in work, studies or in everyday activities.

At my present life, interactive Multimedia has improved the quality of education. This allowed us (students) to partake in interactive learning where we chose the topic and experienced an audio/video presentation on a topic. The purpose is to provide students like me with the knowledge and skills needed to integrate technology into their daily life. Besides being a powerful tool for making presentations, multimedia offers unique advantages in the field of education. For instance, text alone simply does not allow students to get a feel. Multimedia enables us to provide a way by which learners can experience their subject in a vicarious Manner. The key to providing this experience is having simultaneous graphic, video and audio, rather than in a sequential manner. The appeal of multimedia learning is best illustrated by the popularity of the video games currently available in the market. These are multimedia programmes combining text, audio, video, and animated graphics in an easy-to-use fashion. Moreover, multimedia can also provide an enhanced learning experience at a low cost. It is here that the power of multimedia can be unleashed to provide long-term benefit to all. Multimedia enables learning through exploration, discovery, and experience. Technology does not necessarily drive education. That role belongs to the learning needs of each of us students. With multimedia, the process of learning can become more goals oriented, more participatory, and flexible in time and space, unaffected by distances and tailored to individual learning styles, and increase collaboration between teachers and students. Multimedia enables learning to become fun and friendly, without fear of inadequacies or failure. Interactive multimedia computer games use graphics, sound, and video to create a realistic and entertaining game situation. Some multimedia products provide edutainment , which is an experience meant to be both educational and entertaining. Multimedia applications appeal to different learning styles and provide a new type of experience. Multimedia applications also are used for education and training for both the physically impaired. For the student, one advantage of multimedia courseware over the text-based variety is that the application looks better. If the courseware includes only a few images at least it gives relief from screens of text and stimulates the eye. In this respect, using the text only, even in a creative way, has obvious limitations as compared to the use of both text and pictures.
